The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is the oldest Protestant denomination founded on American soil. The church practices open communion, meaning any who believe are welcome to participate in our weekly celebration of the Lord's Supper.
It is the tradition of The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) to baptize by immersion. However, when one decides to join this church from another tradition, that baptism is recognized.
It is simple to "join" the church. Typically, one responds to the invitation to Discipleship when it is offered during the worship service by joining the minister at the front of the church to be welcomed into membership.
First Christian Church is ecumenical and participates with other churches when possible in community wide activities and seasonal worship services.
First Christian is an active participant in the Louisburg Ministerial Alliance and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Greater Kansas City.
